'Worse than the Great Depression' - Leeds fans slate display of one man v Sunderland

Leeds United drew 1-1 with Sunderland in the Championship on Saturday, earning a share of the spoils.

Chris Coleman’s side took the lead in the match in the 49th minute through Paddy McNair, while Pablo Hernandez saved the Whites blushes again, equalising with a deft finish inside the box in the 72nd minute.

Despite the comeback, the Elland Road faithful were particularly unhappy with the performance of Ezgjan Alioski who they felt reflected the dismal all-round display.

With the Black Cats rock bottom of the league along with Burton Albion, a positive outcome ought to have been expected.

The Whites went closest to opening the scoring in the 19th minute in a moment of real quality when Ronaldo Vieira struck the post after breaking into the Sunderland box.

It was another experimental line-up for manager Paul Heckingbottom who has been making use of the club’s highly-rated U23 set-up, including Paudie O’Grady in the starting XI to partner Pontus Jansson, while Callum Nicell made the bench.

The Whites went into the game in abysmal form which hasn’t changed after this result – just one win in their last five games has seen the Yorkshire outfit dip to 14th in the table.

In fact, form has been so bad for Heckingbottom’s men that Jansson even publicly branded it “ridiculous” pre-match which led to fans of the club fearing the worst for the Swede’s future at Elland Road.

Here is what the Whites faithful had to say on Twitter after the performance of Alioski against Sunderland:
