Agent jets in from US to open talks on big-money Rangers deal – report

The agent of Alfredo Morelos is jetting in to Glasgow from the United States to open talks on a new Rangers contract, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim that US-based representative Michael Gorman is due to arrive in the Scottish capital before the Ibrox club’s Scottish Premiership trip to Hamilton Academicals on Sunday.
It is said that Rangers are keen to secure Morelos to a “lucrative” new deal as they attempt to fend off sustained interest in the striker from Chinese club Beijing Renhe.
The Scottish Sun claim the cash-rich outfit have upped their previous offer by £1million to £9million for the Colombian, 21, in an attempt to get a deal done by the end of the month.
But it is report that Rangers have rejected what is a fourth official bid for Morelos, who, as revealed by Football Insider this week, is also to be offered a jawdropping contract worth in the region of £38,000-a-week after tax.
The transfer window in China remains open until 28 February, which means Rangers could face further tests of their desire to hang on to the goalscorer, who was signed from Finnish side HJK Helsinki last summer.
Morelos took his tally to 15 goals from 30 appearances this season after scoring twice in the Gers’ 6-1 demolition of Ayr United last weekend.
He is among the the lowest earners in the Rangers side and, although the club have made it clear they want to reward their top-performing players, is is unlikely they would be able to get anyway near the figures on offer from Beijing Renhe.
In other Rangers news, a stunning £50,000-a-week deal is on offer to a Light Blues first teamer in game-changing development.
