There is something quite significant in Rangers’ recent season long loan capture of Liverpool’s Ovie Ejaria.
The deal shows that Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has massive belief in Steven Gerrard’s abilities as Rangers manager.
Now, the cynics might think that the Reds were always going to loan players to a Gerrard team, as he is a living legend at Anfield.
But there is no guarantees that would happen, especially with a player that Klopp rates so highly as Ejaria.
Klopp obviously sees Ejaria as a player with a huge future at Anfield, but it says quite a lot that he entrusts a rookie manager with the player for a season.
Gerrard must have impressed Klopp in his stint as youth coach at Liverpool, which bodes well for his ability as a first-team manager.
If any Gers fans were disappointed at the fact that the loan is only for one season, they shouldn’t be, they should be delighted that Klopp thinks so highly of Gerrard – and his assistant Gary McAllister’s – managerial abilities that they have allowed the youngster to continue his development at Ibrox.
It will be interesting to see if Gerrard is entrusted with developing more Liverpool prospects at Ibrox this season.
