Everton news: Brutal Richarlison transfer verdict issued after £50m+ reveal -pundit

Noel Whelan has urged Everton to sell Richarlison to a foreign club this summer amid reported interest from Tottenham.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted he “cannot stand” elements of the 25-year-old’s game and would rather see him leave the Premier League.

As revealed by Football Insider this month (5 May), Everton are open to offers for the Brazilian and will accept a £50million-plus bid.

The versatile forward has told his agent to find him a new club ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Telegraph (11 May) claim Tottenham have shown interest in signing Richarlison this summer.

However, Whelan insisted he would rather see the Brazilian leave England for good.

“I’ve got mixed emotions about Richarlison,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“He’s a great player and we know that. I think his petulance and moodiness overshadow how good he is at times.

“Personally, I’d rather see him go abroad. I don’t like seeing a lot of his game, I find it frustrating, I find it very petulant. It’s very soft and I don’t think he’d last one second in the 1990s and early 2000s.

“On one hand, I’d rather see him go abroad and let them deal with the falling over etcetera.

“There’s a petulance that comes with his game, unfortunately, that you’ve got to manage. I think Conte likes stronger players in there.

“When you see the players that he’s brought into the club already, they’re real tough players that will very rarely go down. They show the physicality that Conte wants, like he was as a player as well.

“I’m a mixed bag on this one. I don’t like to see the way he plays, the style of his play. I know he’s a very good player but there are elements of his game that I just can’t stand.”
