Swansea City are in advanced talks to sign Wolves defender Ryan Bennett in a permanent move in a beat-the-deadline move, Football Insider understands.

Swansea have set their sights on experienced central defender Bennett after Tottenham made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Swans defender Joe Rodon, as revealed by Football Insider.

Bennett’s future at Wolves has been the subject of conjecture with the defender slipping down the pecking order Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans this season.

The 30-year-old has attracted the interest of a number of clubs during this summer’s transfer window and Football Insider revealed earlier today that Bennett has turned down a loan offer from Sheffield Wednesday.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Bennett would consider a move to Swansea on a permanent basis and the Welsh club are now working hard on doing a deal before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Bennett, who spent the second half of last season on at Leicester City, has not made a first-team appearance for Wolves this term and they are willing to let the defender move on.

Bennett joined Wolves on a free transfer from Norwich in 2017, helping them win promotion to the Premier League in 2018 and has made 92 appearances for the Molineux outfit.

Swansea have been busy in the transfer market before Friday’s deadline and have set up deals for Bristol City’s Kasey Palmer on loan and a permanent move for Queens Park Rangers’ Ryan Manning.

The second-tier outfit could make it a triple addition if they can bring in Bennett before the 5pm deadline.
