'Instant hero' – Dubravka just said something that convinced fans he will be a Newcastle legend

Martin Dubravka name-checked former Newcastle goalkeeper Pavel Srníček in his post-match interview on Match of the Day 2, and fans are delighted at the classy move.
He enjoyed a superb debut after his loan move from Sparta Prague, keeping Man United at bay and helping to ensure his side won a massive three points in a 1-0 win.
Talking afterwards on Match of the Day 2 (Sunday, BBC2, 10.30pm), Dubravka was asked whether he knew much about Newcastle before he joined and he name-checked Alan Shearer and the former goalkeeper Pavel Srníček.
“Many times I’ve talked about Newcastle with my friends, about Alan Shearer and Pavel Srníček,” Dubravka said, “so I have a lot of memories in my mind.
“But when you’re standing on the pitch and seeing the crowd and how they support us, it’s an amazing feeling.”
Srníček had two stints at Newcastle, from 1991-1998 and then a shorter second spell as injury cover in 2006.
The Czech keeper was a fan favourite and tragically died in 2015 after a cardiac arrest, and Newcastle fans were buzzing after Dubravka mentioned him on TV.
One said it was “so classy” of Dubravka to mention Srníček, while another one called him an “instant hero”.
Other fans were reminded of Srníček by his performance in the game against Man United.
