'Terrible news', 'Nightmare' – Newcastle fans gutted after official player update

Newcastle’s Matt Ritchie has pulled out of Scotland’s squad ahead of their friendly against Hungary on Tuesday, and fans are fearing the worst.

He played almost the full 90 minutes when Scotland lost to Costa Rica on Friday but withdrew from the squad along with Grant Hanley and Scott McTominay.

The news was announced on the official Newcastle Twitter page on Monday.

Newcastle have a very winnable home game in the Premier League against Huddersfield on Saturday and fans are now worried that he’s going to be a doubt for a game that could help them secure their Premier League status.

Rafa Benitez’s side are currently sitting pretty in 13th spot in the league but are still only four points above the trapdoor.

Three points on Saturday would give them some valuable breathing room ahead of the season run-in.
