Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to criticise the performance of their striker Joselu in the game against Man City.
Sergio Aguero scored twice – although the first one could have been credited to Kevin de Bruyne – as Man City laboured to a 2-0 lead.
But Jacob Murphy pulled a goal back and scored his first goal for Newcastle against the run of play to make the score 2-1.
They couldn’t push on from there though and Newcastle fans were once again left underwhelmed by the performance of Joselu in a 3-1 loss.
He’s scored four goals in 20 Premier League appearances but never looked like getting on the score sheet today and was eventually substituted for Dwight Gayle in the 76th minute.
It might be a bit unfair to judge him in a game where he was left isolated for long periods of the game as Newcastle failed to show much ambition.
But Newcastle fans have seen enough this season to leave them in no doubt that he doesn’t provide the threat they need to ensure Premier League survival this season.
Here is a selection of the best reactions from disgruntled Newcastle fans:
Is Joselu playing?? #nufc #MCINEW

Hahahaha hew, Joselu has to be the worst player we’ve ever had. The man is absolutely hopeless 🤦🏻♂️ #NUFC

What did we ever do to be cursed with Joselu and Manquillo?

Defended well but lets be honest just comparing the strikers is a laugh, they've got Aguero and we've got Joselu 🙈 #nufc

Does Joselu actually do anything? If this is Rafa's plan, I'd play Merino over Joselu and push Diame up front. 😔

Joselu isn't even good at doing nowt 😂 #NUFC

In other Newcastle United news, the club have bid £8.8million to secure the signing of a defensive prospect from European giants.
