Done deal: Newcastle confirm loan exit that could spell imminent good news for fans

Newcastle goalkeeper Paul Woolston has joined South Shields on loan until the end of the season.
The player, who came up through the youth ranks at Newcastle, has enjoyed three prior loan moves to Gateshead, Darlington and, most recently, Blyth Spartans, and will now spend the rest of the season at the Evo-Stik North promotion hopefuls.
The news was confirmed on the official Newcastle Twitter page on Saturday morning, ahead of the team’s Premier League clash with leaders Man City.

Football Insider verdict:
Woolston, 19, has made two Premier League 2 appearances this season, and played 90 minutes in the EFL Trophy game against Crewe Alexander. So, on the face of it, this doesn’t seem like major news. However, it could lead to a much bigger deal after Rafa Benitez had said he wouldn’t let the young keeper out on loan unless he was bringing a new goalkeeper in. That’s the headline news here, and it could finally spell some good news after another torrid transfer window for loyal Newcastle fans.
