Newcastle ready to sign Anthony Elanga in bargain ‘£15m’ deal – expert
Newcastle United believe Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga is “the real deal” and want to get a £15million deal over the line this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Scotland striker Frank McAvennie explained that Elanga has been closely watched by Eddie Howe, who now wants to bring him to St James’ Park.
After cashing in on Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to help balance the books, the club now have room to spend, with Elanga emerging as a top target.
This comes after Football Insider revealed that the club has a £100million war chest ready to spend on reinforcements for Howe’s squad.
Newcastle United backed to land £15million Anthony Elanga signing
Elanga’s form for Nottingham Forest last season saw him score five goals and provide nine assists in 39 games, attracting interest from rival clubs.
McAvennie insisted the winger could be worth double what Newcastle are willing to pay this time next season and urged them to get it over the line.
“They’ve sold a couple of players, so that will let them bring new players in,” he told Football Insider.
“They think this guy might just be the real deal, and they want to get him for £15million from what I’m told… Next season, he’ll be worth £30million easily.
“I love watching him. These young players just don’t care about anything. They’re fearless.
“It’s great to watch, but you’ve got to get the right one.
“I don’t know the boy, but I imagine Eddie Howe will have studied him and his scouts were there [at the City Ground] regularly to watch him.

“If they’re going to pay the money, eventually he’s going to be worth a lot more than that.”
