Newcastle United shown exactly why they must accelerate Dusan Vlahovic move after Juventus latest

Newcastle United must have been encouraged to make a move for out-of-contract striker Dusan Vlahovic after his starring role in Juventus’ final day draw at Torino.

The Magpies’ own disappointing league campaign ended with a 2-0 loss to Fulham on Sunday to consign them to a 12th-placed finish.

Juve finished their Serie A campaign with a 2-2 draw away at rivals Torino, but it was not enough to see them clinch Champions League qualification in sixth spot.

Vlahovic was seriously impressive in what could be his final game for the Italian giants as he nears the end of his current contract this summer.

Newcastle’s transfer plans are thought to involve the Serbian in some regard, and they should now be ramping up a move after his latest top showing.

Dusan Vlahovic was excellent for Juventus vs Torino

Sources exclusively revealed to Football Insider last week that Newcastle remain in the race to sign Vlahovic despite their failure to seal Champions League football for next season.

Juventus have now joined them in failing to make the UCL for just the second time in the last 12 years, with the Serb now surely set to explore a new challenge away from Turin.

Vlahovic’s stats vs Torino

He was the star of the show in the Derby della Mole on Sunday, despite their draw, with a goal in either half in what could be his last game for Juve.

Vlahovic created the most chances, had the joint-most touches in the opposition box and took the most shots out of every player on the pitch against Torino.

Some shoddy late defending by his teammates let him down after he thought the brace would be enough to seal all three points for Juve.

He would clearly be a shrewd addition to Newcastle’s striker ranks this summer, with a move needing to be accelerated before other clubs try to sign him at the end of his contract next month.

Yoane Wissa exit to free up funds for Vlahovic move

Newcastle are in need of a new centre-forward this summer to add more firepower to Eddie Howe’s lacking options.

They have ended the season with Will Osula in decent form as his first-choice striker, but Wissa and Nick Woltemade are each struggling for form ahead of next season.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Newcastle are keen to sell Wissa in the coming months after his dismal maiden season on Tyneside.

They should want to get his exit over the line as quickly as possible, not only to free up space in attack for Vlahovic, but also to garner more funds to put towards his lofty wage demands.
