‘Nottingham Forest could land £75m windfall’ after stunning twist

Nottingham Forest are in line for a significant payout if they manage to qualify for the Champions League following their strong season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side sit third in the Premier League table, seven points above sixth-place Newcastle United heading into the final couple of months of the campaign.

There are expected to be five Champions League spots available for top-flight clubs this season, with England comfortably clear in Uefa’s coefficient rankings.

Forest are set to land an extra £43million in Premier League prize money following their performances this season.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the East Midlands side would likely earn a minimum of £75million in Uefa prize money if they qualify for the Champions League and perform well in the competition next season.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis is set to green-light a Forest signing spree this summer as they look to strengthen their squad to compete in Europe.

Fellow Premier League side Aston Villa have landed a £69million windfall after reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season.

Nottingham Forest could agree lucrative off-field deals

Borson revealed Forest could agree increased commercial deals as a result of their anticipated Champions League qualification.

He told Football Insider: “They are another one where we don’t know exactly how close they were on PSR this year.

“We will find that out next week. But Champions League these days is worth a lot of money.

“For Nottingham Forest, I would think it’s probably worth a minimum of £75million next season in Uefa prize money.

“That’s the four games. Four home games, eight games in the league, and potentially two more in the play-off.

“Then if you can win the play-off, they would potentially have a round of 16 game.

“You wouldn’t think they’d get beyond the round of 16, but even with that it’s £75million to maybe £90million.

“Then on top of that, maybe there’s some additional commercial revenue.”

Nottingham Forest could agree £20m Yoanee Wissa deal

Football Insider revealed on 22 March Forest could sign Yoanne Wissa for £15-20million as he will be heading into the final 12 months of his Brentford deal this summer.

Forest wanted to sign Wissa in January, but their bids were rejected and he remained in west London as a result.

The Nottingham club are expected to be active in the summer transfer window as they prioritise improving their attacking options.
