Odds slashed as Rangers among frontrunners to sign £60k-a-week enforcer
Rangers are in the frame for a sensational move for Chelsea legend John Terry, according to leading bookies odds.
Terry joined Aston Villa on a one-year deal last year but has now left the club after Villa lost the Championship play-off final to Fulham.
Talking after he left, Terry said: “I have given my everything this year both on and off the pitch and I’m still hurting today that we never managed to get back to the Premier League, where this club 100% belongs.”
Terry’s next step is unclear – he has previously said that he’d like to move into management – but he impressed at Villa despite his age and the 37-year-old could be tempted to hook up with Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
That’s the view of SkyBet too, who currently have Rangers down as the third favourites to sign the no-nonsense enforcer.
Gerrard has previously been linked with a move for Liverpool veteran Martin Skrtel, and he would no-doubt relish the chance to have Terry in his backline, although his reported £60k-a-week wages would be a huge stumbling block.

However, runaway favourites are Derby at the moment, where former Chelsea teammate is about to become the manager.
Derby are credited with odds of 7/4, while any MLS club is 7/1. Rangers follow behind with Bournemouth at 9/1.
