Celtic target Jack Hendry is set to be watched by four Premier League clubs tonight when Dundee take on Hibernian, according to a report.
The Daily Record, in their transfer blog (8.48am), state that Celtic will have to fight off competition from Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Newcastle if they want to sign the talented 22-year-old from Dundee.
They claim that Celtic want Hendry in January but will now face increased competition.
Celtic’s January business has been slow and Hendry is the only name strongly linked with the club at the moment, although Rodgers has admitted they might have to bring in a striker if Moussa Dembele leaves.
Hendry joined Dundee from Wigan in the summer on a free transfer but has impressed across 22 Premiership appearances.
The Scottish Sun had earlier reported the Crystal Palace and Bournemouth interest, and said the London club had already watched Hendry in action.
That report also stated that Dundee wanted £1.5million from Hendry and that Celtic were not prepared to match that.
Football Insider verdict:
It looks increasingly likely that Celtic are going to get priced out of a move for Jack Hendry, with four Premier League clubs interested in his signature. He’s contracted at Dundee until 2019 so Dundee have every right to ask for a hefty fee for their centre-back although £1.5million does seem steep for a player they picked up for free only six months ago. That’s what happens when Premier League teams get involved though and Celtic might have to hope their interest doesn’t come to anything and that Dundee will be willing to take a much lower price for Hendry.
