Kenny: Morelos gives Rangers big advantage in battle with Leeds to sign star
The presence of his compatriot Alfredo Morelos gives Rangers a big advantage over Leeds United in the hunt for Santiago Moreno.
That is according to ex-Leeds goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively after Football Insider revealed that both teams are eyeing the 21-year-old Colombian forward.
Valued at £5million, the America de Cali player has drawn comparisons with Liverpool’s Sadio Mane.
He has netted six goals and registered four assists in Colombia this season.
And Kenny claims that Morelos will be a big factor in persuading Moreno to choose Ibrox ahead of Elland Road.
“It gives them an edge, definitely,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“With the language barrier, he’ll have someone he can relate to if he does come over. It can be lonely if you don’t speak English.
“But in Morelos, he’s got someone he can relate and talk to. I don’t see why he wouldn’t want to sign for Rangers.
“I’m sure that will be something they will use in negotiations to try and persuade him.
“The only problem is the possibility of Morelos himself leaving. But who knows what’s going to happen there?
“Either way I’m sure he’ll have had positive things to say about Rangers. I’m sure they would play well together too.”
Morelos has been persistently linked with a move away from Glasgow in recent seasons.
