Rodgers delivers key update on Celtic pursuit of £8.8m-rated PL enforcer - reports

Brendan Rodgers has ‘rubbished’ claims linking Celtic with Newcastle defender Chancel Mbemba, according to a report.
The Daily Record claims that despite reports that said Celtic had been watching the centre-back, the player is not someone that Rodgers is interested in.
The same report claims that Rodgers might be in the market for another centre-back in January after signing Marvin Compper, but it won’t be Mbemba.
This comes after a report from football news website FootDRC that stated Rodgers had identified the 23-year-old Democratic Republic of Congo international as a possible option.
It said that Newcastle were keen on recouping the £8.8million they had paid for him, despite Mbemba only being a fringe player at St James’ Park.
