West Ham are readying an approach for Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen this summer, Football Insider understands.

The Championship club are set to listen to offers for their prize assets in the forthcoming window after failing to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Allen, 28, is back on the Hammers’ radar after they bid £25million for him in January of last year when Stoke were in the top flight.

A club source has told Football Insider that the Wales international is again on West Ham’s target list and they are ready to register their interest in taking him back to the Premier League.

Allen signed for Stoke for £14million from Liverpool in the summer of 2016 and has played some of the best football of his career for the Potters, making 120 appearances in three seasons after 132 matches for the Merseysiders and 145 for his first club Swansea City.

A technically gifted and industrious central midfielder, the 49-times international also consistently creates and scores goals, netting six times in the league this season.

As revealed by Football Insider, Bournemouth are in hot pursuit of Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland and he has told friends he is eager to make a move to the south coast club.

In other West Ham transfer news, it can be revealed the club have told one of their midfielders to find a new club.
