Tottenham will face a fight if they are to secure the services of Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to a report.
Football news website Transfer Market Web claim that Spurs have been joined by a host of major European clubs in tracking the 24-year-old, including Premier League rivals Manchester United and Italian giants Juventus.
They state that Gomes is likely to depart the Catalan side in January, either permanently or on loan, and that Tottenham are looking likely to place a bid.
The news comes after the Sun reported that Gomes has had a £20million price tag placed on his head by Barcelona, and that they would be willing to see him depart temporarily in search of first team action, despite being contracted until 2021.
The central midfielder has made just one start this season, with five of his six appearances coming from the substitute’s bench, to make it a total of 53 appearances at the club for the 26-time-capped Portuguese international.

News of other interest will have Mauricio Pochettino worried, especially when it comes from the likes of Manchester United, Juventus and Monaco. He will be hoping that Spurs can swoop in first and secure his signing, otherwise they risk missing out if it comes down to the player’s choice. However, whether he is needed in North London is another matter entirely, with Pochettino already having several midfielders at his disposal, and even more set to return from injury. Whether Gomes would be given the first team action he is searching for would be a big doubt, and that could play against Spurs in the hunt for his signing.
