Tottenham tipped to sign 'fantastic' Coady after Nuno reveal - ex-manager
Conor Coady could be a “fantastic leader” for Tottenham ahead of a potential move from Wolves, according to Alex McLeish.
The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 28-year-old is the sort of “positive player” who could improve Spurs’ back line.
As revealed by Football Insider on June 26th, Nuno Espirito Santo told Spurs he wants them to pursue a deal for Coady during talks over his appointment.
The Portuguese boss views Coady as his “lieutenant” on and off the field at Wolves and wants his leadership qualities at Tottenham.
As revealed back in May, Spurs are in the market for at least one new centre-back this summer.
McLeish admitted the Lilywhites’ current defensive options had been erratic throughout the 2020/21 campaign.

He suggested Coady’s reliability and leadership could steady the ship in north London.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Spurs have been up and down, no doubt about it.
“Coady has proved fantastic leader at Wolves. He can play the centre-back in a back three or even play out wide.
“He’s a versatile guy, very, very much a positive player in terms of his belief in himself.
“When any player comes to a club, you’re looking for them to have that type of mentality. Especially if they’re going to a club like Spurs.
“He’s got to walk in that dressing room and feel that he’s going to be the man, one of the main guys to improve things.”
Coady has missed just one Premier League game since Wolves were promoted in 2018.
However, he still has four years left on his contract at Molineux.
