Lukas Jutkiewicz is set to stay at Birmingham despite interest from Derby County, Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town, Football Insider understands.
The 31-year-old was given the green light to leave St. Andrew’s with fellow striker Sam Cosgrove having signed from Aberdeen in a £2million deal on Sunday.
But a recruitment source told Football Insider that the centre-forward will remain a Birmingham City player beyond tonight’s 11pm cut-off.
Jutkiewicz has not been in the best goalscoring form this season, netting just twice in 24 appearances for Aitor Karanka’s side.
Football Insider revealed that Huddersfield were working hard to sign the former Burnley and Middlesbrough man despite his stalling campaign so far.
This site also revealed that the Terriers had eyes on Stoke City striker Lee Gregory, but the 32-year-old has now agreed terms with Derby County after undergoing a medical at Pride Park today.
Walsall striker Elijah Adebayo — who has netted 10 times in League Two this season — was also the subject of a six-figure bid but a deal is yet to be struck with the deadline just hours away.
Jutkiewicz is a vastly experienced Championship striker and has played 348 times in the division.
The target-man has scored 82 goals and registered 32 assists in those appearances and played a bit-part role for the Burnley side that was promoted from the second-tier in 2015-16.
Although he has struggled to find the back of the net in 2020-21, Jutkiewicz has been at his most prolific over the past few seasons.
He netted 14 times in both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaign, providing 14 assists in the same period.
