Rangers saw their Scottish Premiership title bid all but end on Monday as they lost 2-1 away to Hearts at Tynecastle. Dujon Sterling scored in the first half to set the Gers on their way. However, second-half strikes by Stephen Kingsley and Lawrence Shankland showed that Derek McInnes’ side are serious contenders for the title going into the final three games. While Rangers are unlikely to win the title themselves, they can still play a major role in deciding who does this weekend when they take on Celtic at Parkhead.

Next up: Celtic vs Rangers

Rangers head to Celtic on Sunday knowing that they cannot overtake them in the league standings with a win. However, they will know that a win or a draw will go a long way towards stopping them from winning the league away from Hearts. Celtic have only won one of their last nine meetings with Rangers in normal time, with the Light Blues winning three of those fixtures, while the Hoops haven’t won an Old Firm meeting in the Scottish Premiership since 1 September 2024. It’ll no doubt be a close and nervy affair at Celtic Park on Sunday. And while there’s always something huge to play for in the Old Firm, the lessened pressure from the Light Blues could play into their hands.
